That’s what I was called today by one of my pupils as I told him off. So it made me think, is it better to reprimand with a smile or a scowl? I have seen teachers, and I am sure you have as well, who really scream and shout at pupils as they tell them off; they go red in the face and really confront the pupils. So, is my way better? I stay beautifully calm with a smile on my face that tells them that no matter how hard they may have tried, they have not made me rise to their bait. I am in control. The way I look at it is that I seem to have far fewer disciplinary problems than some of my colleagues who scream and shout and who are permanently stressed.
Of course it does help when I can come home to Mike Malone and commit a few murders on paper!
